Arcelor-Gonvarri Senica
Gonvarri and the Arcelor Group have constituted a Joint Venture for developing the activities of Steel Service Centres in Slovakia. Their aim is to become the market leader for the automotive sector in the region.
Slovakia has one of the highest automotive production rates in Europe and its incorporation in the EEC makes it one of the most attractive markets for our sector.
The Joint Venture with Arcelor, provides access to the high quality steel supply required for the automotive sector, and this, coupled with Gonvarri's experience in the automotive and household appliance sectors, make this Joint Venture a bet for success in
Central and Eastern European emerging markets.
This Joint Venture operates in a Service Centre in the city of Senica, 80 km to
the north of Bratislava. With an area encompassing 63,000 m2, 19,000 m2 of which are buildings,
its aim is to reach sales of around 250,000 tonnes in the
next 5 years.
The facilities have cut-to-length and slitting lines and a shape press as well as facilities for laser soldering, making it the Service Centre with the widest range of products / services in the region.
Although automotive manufacturers figure as one of this Centre's most important clients, the household appliance, automotive parts industry and, in general, all sectors requiring high quality steels with added value services are also amongst its customers.
