Gonvarri’s Positioning
We seek to support our partners to accelerate their decarbonization transformation and make their sustainability progress visible.
What is so-called Green Steel?
Green steel is steel produced using methods that significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional steel production, often incorporating renewable energy sources and innovative technologies.
What technologies are required?
Sustainable methods include the use of natural gas in the first instance and hydrogen thereafter instead of coal in the reduction process, electric arc furnaces powered by renewable energy, recycling of steel scrap, and carbon capture and storage technologies.
How does green steel contribute to sustainability?
It reduces the carbon footprint of steel production, minimizes environmental pollution and promotes recycling.

For Gonvarri Industries, being a low-carbon company implies being part of an important commitment to climate change, assuming a series of actions that promote and contribute to mitigating our impact. We have therefore defined and approved the ‘Carbon Neutral Plan 2030/50’ and incorporated it into the company’s decision-making, business strategy, management and performance.
Our 2030 target, across all geographies and markets, is to:
Reduce emissions associated with fossil fuel consumption by 50% (base year 2022).
100% of the electricity consumed by the company to come from renewable sources.
Consult annually, through our public information reports, the monitoring of the evolution of the Carbon Neutral Plan.
In 2025, Gonvarri Industries continued to develop social action initiatives and community engagement activities in the territories where it operates, in line with its sustainability model and shared value creation approach. These actions are primarily aimed at generating positive social impact, strengthening local cohesion and contributing to socio‑economic development.

We are committed to operating within the framework of a responsible supply chain that supports human rights compliance and is free of conflict minerals. Gonvarri Industries publishes its mandatory Conflict Minerals policy for all supplies that may be affected by conflict minerals.

Gonvarri Industries is committed to respecting and protecting human rights, through its Human Rights Policy, from a preventive approach in all the countries in which it operates as an integral part of its culture.

We are proud that, more than a simple declaration of intentions, these Policies are today a true contract with each and every one of our stakeholders, permeating our day-to-day work and thus becoming the cornerstone of our efforts towards Excellence.
